For Students with Special Educational Needs

School staff often say to me that they have been surprised by the growth in potential and capabilites shown by students during my sessions. What’s the magic secret? I incorporate touch, scent, music, percusssion, repetition, solo and group activtiy using my experience, built on knowledge and skill acquired during my post-graduate qualification in the use of Integrative Arts in Education.  I design sessions specifically to draw in the particular abilities of people who have special educational needs. These can vary enormously between or within groups, so no two sessions are the same. They are, naturally, interactive and multi-sensory, and take a flexible approach, depending on whether presenting issues are seen to be primarily behavioural, relating to motor skills, about pre-literate or pre-linguistic learning, or simply about a large divergence between chronological and developmental age. So sessions are truly bespoke, ideally follow careful discussion in advance, and adapted if necessary in real time to meet the intended outcomes and students’ needs on the day.
