Story Club – ASTORy or Two

East Kent’s very own club dedicated to the timeless art of the spoken word for sophisticated listeners. Full programme of featured artisis until July 2012.

Next event is on Thursday 26th January 2012. Our special guest will be the electrifying Tim Ralphs, all the way from Sheffield. Tim was a highly-placed competitor in the national Young Storyteller of the Year competition in Birmingham in 2007, and has since made seven-league strides in his storytelling career, as well as running the StoryForge Storytelling Club in Sheffield. He will be telling “Our Saint George” a surprising set of tales connected with the Palestinian soldier who has become patron saint of 15 countries or regions.

On the last Thursday of every month at the Astor Community Theatre, Stanhope Street. Monthly events include open floor spots and featured guests from around the UK. Doors open 6.30 PM for 7.00 start. Entrance £6.00 includes free treats.

Come and listen, or have a go at telling a tale or spoken word piece. Any style welcome. The only “rule” is to tell “eye to eye, mind to mind, heart to heart with your audience – without reading from the page. Plenty of support, and no pressure to stand up and have a go.
